it becomes a prayer.

The Christmas story captures my attention every year. I'd like to think the act of painting this special subject is an act of devotion, a form of prayer. Here the baby Jesus looks to the heavens with a special awareness of His situation.

I dreamt an angel came to me in my sleep. I woke to the warmth of her divine smile. I think she wanted me not to be afraid. Like my loved ones who have gone away, I, too, will come to rest and find refuge on heaven’s eternal shore. She will take my hand in hers and her gossamer wings will captivate my weary soul.
