My painting depicts a ship at the mercy of the wind, currents, and waves. It pitches, rolls, yaws, heaves, and sways, but has not overturned and swamped. Hope is represented by a break in the clouds.
I was inspired by the maritime painter Ivan Aivazovsky, one of the greatest masters of marine art. He painted 6,000 seascapes in the 1850's.
My favorite color is blue, so it was enjoyable for me to paint this "Storm at Sea."

Cashel

St. Patrick accidentally brought the King's scepter down on the King's foot while baptizing him. The five thousand in attendance applauded thinking it part of the ceremony. Cashel is a marvelous place.

Eilean Donan at Sunset

This may be, arguably, the most picturesque castle in the Highlands of Scotland. My ancestors helped the MacDonald Clan storm this castle in 1560.

The Witches Tower

Families line up for blocks to climb the circular staircase at the annual open house of the Witches Tower in Prospect Park. Once on top, vistas of the Twin Cities and the Mississippi River are enjoyed. There is no resident witch or flying monkeys, but an ever increasing likelihood that an eagle can be seen as it soars nearby.
