"The American Bison"

16 x 20 oil on linen

I am moved each time I am in the presence of these iconic animals, and had that feeling again while painting this piece. It now hangs over our stone fireplace. Although I have many references, my friend, Tim Irwin, author of an upcoming history of the buffalo, generously gave me this reference.

High Roaming Cinnamon Bear

16 x 20 oil on canvas

$1900

Surveying Her Domain

8 x 10 oil on linen

$700

Some of my paintings have a theme, the self-assurance of strong females.  I believe female mountain lions are fiercely protective of their cubs, and guard their territory vigilantly.  She decides when and with whom she is going to mate with.

Yellowstone Trumpeter

16 x 20 oil on linen

$1900

The Trumpeter gracefully glides across the water with an attitude of regal self assurance. Taking off, it first patters along the top of the water. Its call sounds like a loud brass instrument. I've never heard anything like it.

Zabel's Black Wolf

11 x 14 oil on linen

$400

Fifteen thousand years ago, wolves were on the move south into the Rocky Mountains of North America. Black wolves faired better in forested cover.

Ursa Major

16 x 20 oil on linen

$1700
